Cairo Street Chapel

Cairo Street Chapel Warrington

Cairo Street Chapel is the second oldest surviving place of worship in Warrington.

It was founded by dissenters and nonconformists who were seeking tolerance and liberty for themselves and others. Early Unitarians did not want to be told what to believe by the established Church or priests. They had little time for "priestcraft". These reformers rejected ornate robes and instead opted for the simple but dignified black Geneva preaching gown - a tradition we still proudly retain at Cairo Street Chapel.
